Diesel is an AD3-152 3 cylinder Perkins and gas is a 4 cylinder Continental Z145. Both are extremely popular engines but I've read that the diesel is the most popular engine ever used in a tractor. The Perkins also comes in a gas version. Pretty much every MF diesel tractor(or other piece of equipment) in the 40 H.P. range from 1964/65 till the 90's used the AD3-152. The models that didn't, used a gas version or more commonly a Continental Z134 or Z145. It shouldn't be too hard to find an engine if that's what you need, although there are still thousands of them still running. Dave
