I have 315L excavator it sounds like it has a miss at 3/4 to full throttle when you shake the machine abit or travel with it it runs good when useing the hydraulics.Starts good idles real good any ideas as to what it could be it is 1997

What's coming out of the stack while it's missing? Any white or black puffs of smoke? You could get it to misfire then loosen the fuel lines one at a time and try to find the cyl that's missing. If you can locate a bad cyl check all valve lash and pay close attention to bad cyl. Come on back with what you find.

thanks Bob, no there's no smoke coming from the stack seems like there would be somthing loose, a little bit of shaking makes it run like that but put it under a load it runs fine.I will do some more checking and get back.

It's hard to check on that engine but it sounds like it might be not pumping as much fuel into the weak cyl. Diesels pump very little fuel at idle but a lot more under load. Any difference in fuel will be noticable at idle but not amount to much difference between cyls under load with more being pumped. Check air cleaners aswell.

jook. You will have to find ONE sharp Cat parts man to show you where it is located but there is a very small taperedsinister brass fuel filter built in the banjo nut on input to the fuel pump.
That thing is notiorio for causing fule problems with that engine. Had one doing EXACTLY what yours is doing and did evrything like injectors, valves, turbo and a lot mor spent over 3 grand on the unit then found that filter and replaced it stoped all problems. Hope this helps Jerry
