327 baler vs 336

Is there any significant difference other than age between these two models? Looked at one of each today.Looked very similar.Any info greatly appreciated.

It's been a long time since I've been around them, but doesn't the 327 make a smaller bale?

Same baler just little things that are different. Both are 14x18 balers. If memory serves me the pick-up on the 327 has less pick-up teeth. If they are close in price I would go with the 336 as it is a little newer machine.336 should have a bigger driveline and bigger tires. More of a flotation type than the 327. Look close at knotters and see if thay are a one piece or two piece where the main shaft goes thru. Any idea what year they are? If you were close to me I would be glad to check them out for you. There are a lot of ?'s that should be asked about a baler before buying not just the standard "Does it Bale"? If you can hook it to a tractor and let it run at an idle you may be able to hear any bearings or rollers that may ba getting loose or ready to go. My e-mail is open should you require any thing more.

ArleninOr,
I thought the last digit in model number denoted series on JD baler. So wouldn't the 327 be newer than the 336? I know the 337 is a later model. I think the 327 is a smaller capacity baler of the 2 models

Yes, a 327 is a newer baler than a 336. A 327 is the economy priced baler of the "7" series. Though older, I probably go with the 336.

The 327 is a newer baler then the 336 we had both and id take the 327 hands down we make 6000 to 10000 bales a year so i know what im taking about lol.

Corey,327 is older and is the economy version. 80 strokes per min vs 93 on the 336 cat 4 driveline vs cat 5 on the 336 4 bars in the pick-up vs 6 in the 336. Either way both good balers as the knotters are the same. 327 for the guy with smaller patches of hay or not in a very big hurry. By the way I do custom baling and ran just shy of 30,000 bales of hay through a JD 338 baler that I bought new in 1994. It is currently in my shop getting new plunger rails, bearings, and knives. Replaced my knotters 2 years ago not because they wore out but because something caused the knotter shaft to break. (fatigue maybe) Who knows but I fix and keep going. Also have a spare baler that has not been used by me since I bought my 338.

336 is a great baler. We ran one for many years. Baled 5,000 + bales a year with very few problems. 327 is newer, but one model lower, so not as high capacity. Either would be good.

Deere has made very few changes in thier balers since 1974, I have been working on them since then, and I believe they are as good as any other brand,,but there is room for improvements, they spend a milion bucks a day on research and development, but I don't think a dime of it goe's to the sguare balers...

I have a JD 327 square baler I want to sell. It is really a sweet machine. Where do I find the serial number, info re: the year, etc? I"m trying to deduce a fair price to ask.
