I TOOK THE REVERSER APART TOO CHECK IT OUT WHILE I DID THE TRANS & FINAL DRIVES.
IT LOOKS LIKE NEW INSIDE EVEN ALL THE BEARINGS LOOK GREAT, BUT, THE YELLOW PAINT INSIDE THE CASE IS FLAKING OFF. THE FILTER IS FULL OF PAINT PIECES. WHAT KIND OF PAINT IS THIS? WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE? WHAT SHOULD I DO?
THANKS FOR ALL HELP!

That's common. Every one I've had apart had paint chips. Deere, as well as most other companies paint the insides of cast parts to seal and prevent any remnant of sand (from the casting process)to come loose.

Deere castings usually aren't yellow inside though, more of a brown/red color.

They were painted at factory that way.If it is peeling scrape and clean it up.I don't know but after machine work was done on case they cleaned case and degreased. The case would rust so they painted it.

back in my hot rod days we painted insides of engines with Glyptol paint to seal porus castings and it was sposed to help oil return to pan quicker...it was red tho...never did see a yellow version.
if you decide to repaint inside any good hot rod shop should have Glyptol on the shelf...mite even try NAPA.
