What is the best way to get old sleeves out of the block?

sleeve puller with hydraulic lift, it take alot of pressure to get those in and out of a 354 perkins(cant remember exact but around 30tons)

Or the trick of one (or more) bead(s) of weld along the length of the sleeve to shrink it (rather than penetrate, and weld it in permanently!)

Never done it myself but it is documented in various places.

The dealer down the road did that, did not watch it and welded the liner to the block. It had to be cut out with a boring bar!

Years ago I bought an 1850D with a cracked block.
Dealer cracked block trying to pull sleeve out. I
always weld them to shrink them.

What about heating it up with a torch?

By using a torch,you'll only expand the sleeve,making the fit ever tighter.

I agree. Maybe pack it with dry ice.

I weld them,not at high heat, then hammer them out with a pounder that I made that just fits the block hole.
If you use a stick welder you may have to bend the rods to fit down the sleeves right.

Works good.
