37 A Puller

I put an ad in the classified a couple weeks ago with only one response. Thought I'd put it out on the forum. Wanting to sell this 37 A. 14-9's on press steel, bored .125 over, 630 cam, hot mag, 71 carb, and gas intake. Before I put the flatback on, I dynoed it and it was a steady 68 HP. I'm cutting down on my pulling. Have pics.

how in heck do you get 68 horse from that set up? Ihave 44 jd a, .125 over h/c alm pistons, cam ground redone carb for only 44 horse, however not much head work. thanks

Could be the reason that you didn't get many replys is those numbers.I had an A with a power block bored .125 over,G pistons milled to go up in the dognut, head ported & polished,Roberts cam and heisler intake and a big nut G carb would only make 60 HP but lugged real well.

I wasn't going to say anything about the HP claims on his post...seemed rather high, or let's say "overly", but since a few others questioned it also, I will chime in on it. I have always said you can't trust dyno numbers. Every dyno will read different from one to the next. I only us them to tune in an engine. After that, a guy can throw out whatever HP numbers he wants to and say that's what the dyno read. HP numbers don't mean anything once you hit the track. If that was the case, I shoulda won every class! LOL.

Josh what Hp is your Deere making. Just curious? My Brother Mike used to have a really good running Deere. What would you say that the Max hp you could get from that model tractor.

Well guys, the person I bought if from he and I built it together in 2006. When finished, he hooked it up on the dyno and that's what he stated. I didn't dynoed it myself, I was there though. I just know it's the number 1 annual puller for our club the past 5 years. I just know that for it's class nothing comes close other than a AC WC that give me problems. I'm located in Monument, Colorado. 719 440-1105

I forgot to tell you guys, I have rollers in the thing also. I do have 2 Farmalls keeping one. 1940 M with the no-stroke Denny's kit (306 cu, IAW Denny's 95 HP, never dynoed, removed PTO and everything with weight) low-low speed trans, Denny's pulling carb, Denny's mod governor, 12 volt, petrontic ignition, thunder volt coil, 450 cam, 18-4's on 9 bolt press wheels, 15-5's on cast, plained head/block, super flow manifold, ultimate air intake, wheelie bars and weights. Number 1 annual winner. I'm selling it also.

Unfortunately, dyno's aren't like tape measures. They will read differently from model to model and operator to operator. For example, I just dyno'd a JD630 that had a +0.125 M&W rebuild last year. The owner claimed it had 55-58HP. We showed 44HP on the dyno. Backed the timing off and got 46HP. He probably showed 55-58 on the dyno he used and the actual number is somewhere in between.

Sorry to say, but someone fed you a line. you're also at 7000 ft, making HP harder to come by.

Alright, I'm at 7545 feet above sea level, it may be less/or more be more (HP). I NEED TO GET RID OF THESE TRACTORS!!! Done with pulling the big stuff (pulled since 1963), bought a garden tractor pulling sled for the community. Cheaper, and more fun....
