3pt arms

I am wondering if anyone has a good way of getting the cranks unstuck on my 3020. From lack of use by the previous owner the adjustments for the 3pt arms are rusted solid. I have opened the grease zurks and added oil, I have tried to oil them several times a day from the top, but nothing seems to be working. thanks in advance.

These components get stucker than a fish in wet concrete.

Use ATF and acetone mixed together. You can also heat the components and melt candle wax into them.

I have one side on a 4020 just like that. My son and I have attacked it twice. Had it nearly red hot the second time we tried to free it up, using two torches. This was after a several types of penetrants were applied and use of large pipe wrenches. Someday, we are going to give it a third try. If it doesn't loosen up then, we will just let it win!

Soaking them in a good wood ember fire, letting them cool in the phosphate-rich ashes until the next morning often does the trick. (If there's some maple in it the mix, the ashes will actually create crude lye, which will make the parts slick when it combines with the morning dew).

There tends to be a lot more humidity in a fire like that, what with it boiling steam out of the underlying ground, whereas actylene is hot and very, very dry. The phosphate from the ashes will dust the parts and it will create a soapy film that might help loosen the parts. It's pretty cheap to try and it has worked for me many times. The only problem is getting the fire started and the bank of embers built up.

Lord knows it's a whole lot easier to try the torch first, but the fire has worked for me on three point knuckles, wide front ends, etc.
