(quoted from post at 21:48:28 03/30/21) Is the 400 narrow front diesel different than the 400 super diesel?
What would be the difference in the two?
ther differences include stub on steering column for the future COM, PTO brake, upper support for a cultivator.

The 400 diesel didn't quite make 50 hp @ the Nebraska test. The gas version did. The diesel bore was changed from 4 to 4 1/8 and the RPM's increased 100 or 150. The tool box was made bigger and the CASE stamping on the lid omitted. Also, the steering column has a cast boss where the Case-o-Matic lever would later be bolted on with the 800 intro. Don

So could a person take an 800 and change the tin to 400 tin and style and call it a 400 super series 1 or prototype 800? It would be some thing to show around.

I have a nice 400 Super Diesel that I would sell,It has nice 16.9-38 tires, narrow front, power steering works great,3 point with 3rd link and bracket, belt pulley, front wrap around weights, good fenders, was painted about 15 years ago and engine overhauled at that time,it starts right up on cool days,715-308-2163,Roger

You probably could, but the heads and exhaust manifold are different on a 400 SD than an 800. A 400 manifold has the muffler alongside the hood, an 800 has the muffler going through the hood. A PO put an 800 engine in my 400 SD, that's how I know. Don

The manifold may interchange or not but it would be a conversation piece at a show where the Experts congregate or the Case version of the Super HTA which is really a 300.

We have a 400 Diesel COM tractor and a 400 gas COM tractor. The gas is a very early 800 s with the clutch pedal the looks like a clutch pedal and not the slab used on the later 800s. The diesel is a 400
which we changed the torque tube from a clutch to the Com
The only have the foot throttle on the right side and I think they both are embossed with the word THROTTLE. We changed the manifolds and the front tubs as they are different. 800 tub is 3/4 inch longer in
the rear, it almost looks like some of them have a spacer in there instead of being in the cast.
