4000 Hydraulic Valve Problem

I have a JD 4000 Tractor. One the number 1 remote valve everthing works as it should. But on the number 2 valve if I lift my corn planter or other implement such as this as soon as the lever returns to the neutral position the implement starts to drop. If you hold back on the lever it stays up fine as long as you are holding it back. I hooked a gauge up to the remote and it does the same thing. As soon as I put the lever back in the neutral position the pressure drops off the gauge. I had the valve off the tractor and took it apart and could not find anything that looked bad. I put it together and put it back on and it still does the same thing. Before I tear it back off again, does anyone know what it could be or what I should check closer the next time. open the valve back up and look closer. will be a nick in a return poppet valve or a speck of metal embedded in it. rarely the valve housings crack internally but your valve simply need to be rebuilt. best done by someone who knows how to do them properly.

The poppet valves are bad you will need 4-AR 86535,valves,,2-R 65501 return springs,,2-R 65502 pressure springs,,1-AR 82571 o-ring kit...The new valves will look different than the old one's,,there improved, take your time pulling the old valves out one at a time 2 will have o-rings on the roller end and 2 will not, when you install each valve twist it a little to be sure the roller sets against the operateing cam corectly..

Is there a cylinder that raises the implement you have on the remotes?? If so , the lift cylinder might be leaking internally past the cylinder packings..This will do the same as you have described....

if a pressure guage drops, its in the valve. eliminates a bad cylinder. unless u were hooked in line with the cylinder hooked up, which i doubt.
