4010/20 gas pullers

Why do you all think there aren't many 4010/20 gas pullers around? Up where we hook in NE MN and E WI there are only a couple. How many are in your areas and why do you think there are or aren't many?

I too asked the same question a couple years ago. It doesnt make sense. I currently have one I am going back through it came from NY. I also know of a guy that has one close in PA and it runs really good. If you search youtube for gas 4010 puller it will come up. Everyone I pull with says diesel is the only way to go. However my belief is if you cant run a turbo a gas will make more power. How many Diesel 560's do you see compared to Gas ones? If you need any information on building one shoot me an email.

When you get the Nolan/Silco Deere back on track where are you going to pull it ? The old girl sat
in hibernation way too long. The reason she sat is why you don't see more of them pull,no place to play
that fits the rules and isn't out of it's league.

there all still being used as farm tractors! haha. 4010s are a good tractor.they cost alot if you wanna compete. i know they start heavy as a stock tractor what does yours weigh?

Mike told me that their were not a lot of places to pull it hence why it sat. Around here rules are pretty lax if its a farm stock class its pretty fair game as long as you don't have cuts on. We will see how she does when I get done with it. There are some big minnies and 560's and some other really good running tractors. We will see if she competes, I doubt it will be out this summer hopefully soon.

Same questions we asked the Natpa Quys they wont raise year limit but if you pull a moline g-6 they go up into sixtes date and They wont let us pull We have one weights 5500lbs easy it is hard to find a place to pull because we are limited to 1959 why not??? If you look in divison 5 there are hardly any tractors and some times no tractors. Just dont think they want any competion just my 2 cents thanks for letting me vent thanks TVMAN

Nobody is scared of a 4020 gas, and its JD fault they were still running put-puts in 1959. After all JD said in 1959 nobody needed over 2 cylinders.

Drop a 466 in one there will be some whinning farmall guys. Farmalls can transplant Deeres should be able too!

A 466 Deere could not Smell where a IH 466 has been it would be a waist of money and a good farm tractor to make a 4010 into a antique puller.

I heard your grandpa used to have a 4010d snot nosed kid. Rumer was it pulled like none other. I was just curious if it was true and what ever happened to it.

I do have a 4010 gas that I pull. My point in this post was seeing if there were some in other parts of the country and what the general thoughts were. I'm not really scared of a 4010/20 diesel or any na diesel for that matter. It is much easier to make power with naturally aspirated gas than diesel. Can't get near enough air to match the fuel with a diesel. I have also seen Fred's 4010 on YouTube and talked to him. That is a hell of a machine.

I think they could be made competitve in speed limit classes at
decent cost if the year cutoff was higher.

He did have a 4010 diesel. It ran real good for a long time, Broke the dyno at 150 hp in Princeton one night, but toward it's end he couldn't hang with the 460 and 570 cockshutt gasser she hooked against. We still have it in the shed... He blew it up in 05 and a few years back we threw a gas motor in it and drove it around, other than that she has sat there.

TVMAN, most antique rules are very simple- if the tractor model was built in '59, it can pull antique. Minnie Gvi was built in '59, so later years can also pull. The 4010 was not built in '59, so it can't pull antique. Not hard to understand.

Toolz, you are right they were not made in 59 but in deeres defense molines did not come with 800 cubic inch engines out of industrail units either , which are 1200 plus in some cases. a stock gas was about 303 cubic inchs and with some updates could be about 480 cubic which is about all you can do these are gas naturally aspirated all the guys with deeres are looking for a place to pull. Mske them the same naturally aspriated. Have some fun, we are not going to moon just tractor pulling just some friendly competion keep on pulling and smileing TVMAN

It's ok to run a 1100+ massey or MM (same thing).Against a JD,IH-M Oliver,Case ect. But a JD 4010 with over 600+,is because of year built ?They are all built from aftermarket parts even sheet metal. So it makes them all current year.
ps
what ever the weight class.

I don't know of any gas 4010 pullers in central PA. There are a few n/a diesels at the local fair pulls. One runs a 466 and pulls 5,500 and 7,000 in 7th gear with 18.4x38s.

Mark, we are in Mo. and we do tangle with these g-6 with pretty good results and some times get buy them and they are not happy but that is the game of tractor pulling being able smaller cubic inches and horse power to the ground and win thanks for your concern TVMAN Having Fun

(quoted from post at 08:00:43 11/24/13) If memory serves me correct, 4020 gas won a NA class at Gordyville last year.

Alcohol actually.......and it's far more advanced than what these guys here are talking about building.....
