4010 hyd pump

I am changing out the hyd pump on a 4010 diesel. It has the 2 ports a 7/8 and 1 1/8 (or whatever the big one is)ports. The pump place i am looking at has 2 like I need. One has a relief the other don"t. How do I tell if my pump has the relief on it?

Your 4010 hydraulic pump doesn't have a "relief". None of them did.

There must be some misunderstanding or terminology issue between you and the "pump place".

Good luck. With a question like this, you will need it!

Many hyd pumps have been replaced to find out indeed the hyd pump was still good. 4010 hyd pump has a stroke control valve in the head but no relief valve.

These pumps have a pressure control valve to maintain the operating pressure (2250 - 2350) The pressure control valve is called a stroke control valve because it controls the stroke of the pumping pistons thereby controlling the standby pressure of the hydraulic system. I have resealed countless john deere pumps and have rarely seen one that cannot be repaired/rebuilt.

After reading what you guy said I am ready to rebuild this one. It was providing the pressures needed for the brakes and steering but was very week at the remotes and 3 pt hitch. All I can find for a rebuild kit is o rings, seals and bearings. Is this all I need. I thought it would need new pistons.
