4010 Hydraulic Problem

I am looking for some help, I have an early model 4010 with slow hydraulic at the remotes and the 3 point. Steering and brakes are excellent but the problem is it will only life my hay head on my hay machine a couple of inches, and goes down slow also. When it is hooked up to my 4440 it goes up and down fast and smooth. Here is what I have checked so far:
1. remote pressure is 2250psi.
2. I removed the charge pump and checked and it is fine.
3. It is an early 4010 so it does not have a filter in the main pump
4. I have removed and checked the surge pressure relief valve
5. Have put in new hydraulic filter and new oil
6. I put a hyd. pressure gauge between the remote and the hay machine and I get 2250psi when attempting to lift the head, but it only goes up a couple of inches.

I hope this is not too confusing, any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you have 2250psi at the machine,the problem is not the 4010.the problem must be either the hoses or something is stopping the head from raising.it should only take around 1400 psi to raise the head.

Sounds like the hose or hoses have a bad lining inside them causing blocdkage of the oil flow.Even if its the same hoses used on both tractors, it could be the difference in how thay are attached or hang.Its a fairly common problem with hydraulic hoses.You have done a great job so far in identifying the problem.

Sounds to me like your couplers may be screwed up.

does it have a "rate of drop" control knob? if so could this be frozen or stopped up? just a suggestion. good luck, d. coleman

If it works good on the 4440 how can it be the hoses? My 4010 has a screen in the trans housing that screens the fluid before it goes to the pump. Could be the screen is clogged. There is about an inch or inch & half plug on the clutch side of the tractor, it will be down below the battery tray. That may be one thing to check. After I cleaned my screen some of the junk got in the system and I had to flush some lines. Right in front of the dash is a good place, several valves and fittings.

Look at the above post about 4020 Hyd's. Your's should have the # 28 screen also.
