4020 brake valve boot

hello--does anyone have or know where to get
those black rubber boots that surround the plunger on a 4020 brake valve? part #r31449 is obsolete and MUST buy the kit re244537. thanks

You must have a pre-95827 tractor, eh? I wonder what the difference is between the old-design boots and the still-available R54059 boots??? Molded-in steel sleeve, perhaps?

It is refreshing to see there are still people who understand how important these boots are.

I was taught to sell the replacement of cracked/broken boots any time a customer brought his 4020 in for repairs - Drilled into my head may be more accurate than taught.

The mentality now-a-days is to let the leaking boots rust the plungers tight. Maybe if everything happens right, the poor sap will burn his brake pads up, too.

Do a little more checking with Bob's numbers, or maybe try a different model. I had to buy the kits a while back and complained to the parts guys, then sometime later went in and could get just the boots, I questioned the parts guys and they had no answer. If you're not in the valve yet you might need the kit anyway. chris

hello--thanks...as always. a couple of different perspectives hmmm. yes,i may need the kits. the brakes work good i just dont want oil dripping on my new paint. ohhh, question a parts guy....DUH and DUH again. but they get it from both sides...customers and the machine (jd co.). oh well, i will try that other number tomorrow.

If you have oil dripping you need MORE than the dust boots!

This is true, the boots keep dirt and water out, the o-ring on the plunger keeps the oil in.
