Got to start a 4020 early model diesel with powershift transmisson that has been sitting 3 years. We are gonna install new batteries tomorrow but im wondering what else would need to be done to get it cranked up. Thanks

It would be a good idea to drain the tank and put new fuel in, new filters and re-prime it to get off to a good start, don't be afraid to use a bit of ether to get it going. If you don't have the opertinity to get the filters the new fuel would still be good..

Put two new batteries in it and all it does is click at the starter. Do you think the solenoid is stuck. It is a 24 volt system.

If It's clicking at the starter the safety switch is good, sounds like starter issues,,would be a good time to swap it out for a 12 volt system and make your life easier...

Could be bad battery cable connection. Also could be faulty ign switch or wiring.

Have you tried checking voltage/amperage at the starter???????
