4020 fuel cap

Should my 4020 have the fuel cap with the red cover also what year is it serial T213R 163309R

Fuel cap was painted "red" but no cover. There's a sn chart on the LH side of this page.

1967 145600 your 4020 is a 1967 model (163309)

Also, I know you used to be able to get a red grommet (that goes around the fuel filler neck). I think they're all black now.

The 4010 tractors came with a cover, but eveyone replaces them with the regular cap.

You're correct and I made an incorrect statement. I guess I forgot from way back then. 3020/4020's had same fuel cap cover and it's still available from JD.

I painted mine red I see on eBay that there is a repro red grommet and cap

The cap with a cover took a diffeent gromot. It does not have the raised side edges next to the fuel tank ipple.
