How would I wire a 1 wire delco alternator to replace a generator on my 1967 4020. It is a 24v system with a positive ground. 2 twelve volt batteries.

Remove the regulator, I take the complete bracket off, use the brown wire to the large terminal on the alternater, tape the rest of them up and zip-tie them back out of the way, If you want to make the charge light work sort the wire out that goes to the light (I can't remember which color it is) and atach it to the terminl closest to the top of the engine of the two blade terminals on the side of the alternater.

If your installing a 12v alt. I hope you're aware you'll need to change your batteries to connect in parallel so it's 12v not in series as 24v. Both positive cables will need to be attached to starter solenoid.

And you will need to use a second solinoid between the switch and the starter, and if you want the fuel gauge to work you will need to change it to a Neg. ground gauge,,I guess were giveing you just a bit of info at a time...

Lamps with 24V filaments will be required.
Or tie two 12V lights in series. Problem is the head lights will function as cheap Christmas lights. Have one lamp fail and now both lamps go out.
You will be happier replacing the regulator in the alternator with a 12V three wire unit.
A three wire regulator works better and they are simple enough to connect.
