4020 wiring problems

The wiring is shot on our 65 4020d it really needs to be rewired. Can you buy a new harness for it anywhere. I also want to convert it to 12 volt.

JD and several after market places offer 12 V wiring harnesses but because of having to change ign & light switches I'd stick to 24V wiring harness as it only requires a slight modification when changing a 24V to 12V system.

Get one from Agri-services, installed one last year on an early 4020 from the fuel tank to the rear and fender lights. They have everything marked ask you which starter/alternator you're going to use. www.wiringharnesses.com or call 716 937 6618. Will definately order the next one from them. This was on a working tractor and customer has had no complaints. chris

The reason I stated to stay with a 24V wiring harness is that the ign & light switches on a 24V have batt A & B terminals that a 12V wiring harness won't have wired into it. I don't know if a 12V conversion wiring harness has batt A & B terminals.

I've never changed a 24V tractor to 12V but I think all one needs to do to the 24V harness is tie BATT A & B supply wires together to make ign & light switches operate on 12V system correctly
