41 styled B head

I have a 41 styled B and it has a cracked valve guide on the number one cylinder exhaust valve. Is the head junk or can the valve guide be replaced?

If all that is damaged is the valve guide, a machine shop can easily replace it. After replacing the guide, the valve seat should be touched up so it is exactly concentric with the new guide.

A head off a 40 model B will not work will it? I have one of those and its in good shape.

The 1939 and the 1940 heads are different. It's 'possible' to put them on the later heads, but I wouldn't.

You can press the valve guide out and install a new one or good used one. Very easy to do.
