Certainly can appreciate your persistance. Ideally you want one with a "Hume" reel, extended cutterbar and rear straw chopper. Might be tough to find the combination. I had to purchase two machines. Assembled one with the unwanted combination and pretty much gave it away. Unfortunately never got around to finishing the other one and it is buried in the shed. Something to consider is the height of the discharge auger; will it be high enough to dump into your wagons or truck? I bought a new auger hsg and intended to extend the auger a couple of feet to clear larger wagons. Still wouldn't work with a semi. Better choice might be the older 65 or the newer 96, although direct cut versions are more difficult to locate.

If it's not in too bad a shape maybe you can fix it up or buy it for parts when you do get a working 42 ???
