420 lp

Rebuilding a 420 lp notice that the pistons are domed ,I assume it is to up the compression a little. but are the rings the same as the gas engine ,the manuel does not say

If it's an IT manual you are using. They tend to offer just enough info to get a person into trouble.
The real Deere manuals are reasonable in price from 1-800-522-7448.
The JD web site has the parts list online which will show which components are LP specific.

Yes the pistons are domed to raise compression as LP has a higher octane rating than pump gas.
How did you get lucky enough to come across a LP 420 ?

I looked in my 420 parts book this am and it only lists one set/type of rings for all models of 420. There are three listings but one is standard and the other 2 are 20 and 40 over.

by the way, in my opinion calling mother deere for the manuals is the most expensive way to go.
