i am looking at a what the owner is calling a 431 case but im not sure.it is a gas eng no power steering but has one set of hyd hookups and the rear wheeles do slide out.it also has a lever on the left side of the bell housing thay say it works like a T.A.iv ran 430s befor but not sure on this one. thanks

A picture would help....but it sounds like the seller is almost right. With a gas engine is would have to be either a 441 or a 440. The former is the General Purpose model and the latter is the Utility. Since the rear axles are adjustable instead of flanges, it is likely a 441.

The "TA" on the left side of the torque tube is a hand clutch. It can be used to create a situation similar to an independent PTO. The PTO can continue to run with the foot clutch engaged and the hand clutch can be used to move the tractor forward or in reverse.

It always causes a little heartburn when the seller gets things like this wrong. I suppose the seller could be selling for another person (i.e. a deceased family member), but if they can't get these things right/straight, what else is not known or understood? Be careful out there.... - Joe
