435 Steering Joint

My brother works at a driveline shop, and some one came to them with a steering joint for a 435 because it was loose and wanted it tightened up. Can you put a U joint in the yokes? how should this be repaired? Thanks.

This is probably not kosher, but I just welded 1/2 in u-joints from craftsman (the ones you use with sockets) and used 1/2 in line pipe for the shafts. You can see my 435 on you tube if you type in john deere 435 @ tunica. Just think lifetime-warranty. Vic

John Craig fixed mine with a small u-joint knuckle. Much more simple than the original and looks like a factory job. Dave Cook also rebuilds them.
