44 A Axle Seal

Alright guys, need to put in an axle seal. Drive off the gear and pull the whole shaft out? I am wanting to do all seals and bearings.

Yes. A trick an old JD mechanic taught me was put a wood splitting wedge between the two axles ends inside of the rear end housing and give her a smack(after you have removed axle nut of course) and the axle should come loose and slide right out.

Somebody on here mentioned once about some of the bolt holes for the rockshaft/pto housing being drilled to drain the axle housing if it is full of oil. Of course I didn't read this until after I made a suction hose to empty the housings. Just in case yours are full. chris
