44 Pulling Engine.

I have a 44 JD A that I would like to get started building the
engine for some pulls at the county fair. Want some HP but
not looking to spend thousands. Just something that would
be fairly reasonable to build. Thinking about boring. 125
over if I can atleast. 090 for sure. Any piston choices? What
about the head and valves? Cam regrind? What does it cost
to get a cam reground? I have 15.5x38 on now. Thanks for
the information. I would like to keep the hand start too.
Hopefully I'm still able to start it after the build.

Check around and see if you can find someone changing from a shorter stroker crank, to a Bigger, longer stroke crank..
You may get a good deal and that IS the best way to go, leaving you with other options, should you decide you want more power later..

I have a A with .125 over stock stroke. Josh did the carb work and did the rocker arms. It puts a honest 49 hp out at 540 pto rpms. There is more to be had with more compession but I still hand start. I have about 1500 into a total rebuild with gaskets, pistons, carb, rockers, head rebuilt. I also would recomend 13.6 38 for tires. The big problem is the 2.5 mph first gear.

I second that!!! Give Josh Blackburn a call he will steer u in the right direction he does great work on the 2 cylinders and in the time frame he gives you Big Plus!!!
