I have a 4430 that I keep having driveline problems with. Has anyone else had problem with a 4430 that has had the fuel turned to it.
Thank you
mike

4430's are considered a small case tractor and have a final drive and brakes that are not much bigger then a 4020 or 4320. Back in the day when you used to plow with them there was some pretty horrendous failures with the final drives which were beefed up some. Seems like only the large case tractors handle being turned up without the finals and tranny going bad.

For those tractors with turned up pumps, over ballasted and lugged in the lower gears with heavy draft loads while using duals.
Mother Deere released several update kits. Here a sample of some. An upgrade from a two
pinion diff to a four pinion. Oversize axle, bearings and final planetarys.

Yeah...and how. Back in 1981 or 1982 I was disking with a friend's 4430, just trying to help him out with his spring work. I didn't hike the disk up all the way turning on the headlands and about after an hour the rear end started growling and then gave a couple of jerks and everything stopped with the engine running away. Well, my friend was still my friend but he wasn't very happy with me or himself, said he should have told me not to pull the tractor turning at all...about 3600 Bucks worth of damage....

The 75 models and later had a better rear end than the earlier models. The quad range tractors were the problem, the powershift tractors had a stronger 4 pinion differential in them. By the time they upgraded to something better they already had the reputation.

Also remember to never pull anything hard in reverse with your 4430, almost guaranteed to do high dollar damage.
