still working on getting it started fixed leak in fuel line jd wanted twenty eight dollars for a ten inch line cut ends off and put rubber fuel line three dollars cant see it any way under fuel tank installed a new primer pump on injection pump it would leak when you pumped it still will not start loosened two lines at injecters and cranked over got wet tighend nuts still will not start ran batteries down charging them back up tonight will change fuel filters tomarrow and try to bleed out more how long does it take to get air out will have help tomarrow be glad when it starts talking ice storm thursday thats all i need

Two tricks my dad taught me when starting a 4430 when cold. 1)Make sure the 3pt is down w/the lever pushed forward, 2)Turn the steering wheel from all the way right to all the way left and back when cranking the motor. Not sure if it relates to your problem, but will help others when starting during the winter.

If i remember correctly, some of the 4430 pumps had an cable that ran from the outside to the inside that set an overfuel control on the pump for startup. It tripped a lever on the pump between the block and the pump to set the overfuel into position. If this cable breaks, it wont work properly. Tim S or Buickanddeere will probably remember better than I do.

Yes, on the older 4430's the short cable would trip a latch on the side of the pump when the stop was pulled,Deere did away with it in late 1975, I guess I don't know what year this 4430 is, I know the poor guy has been fighting with it for a while....

My 4430 had that- I called it a toggle, maybe the right name was aneroid something? Anyway, if I killed it in the field it would not restart without pushing it so that it buckled "outward". Could crank all day and never start if that was not done. Understood that it was changed during production- didn"t see another.

was told 76 model sn 4430h 052710r dont remember no cable other than the kill cable that goes on back side.were would this cable be at. is there a plug you can take out on injector pump to bleed out air.im located in nothern oklahoma on state line been in fiftys and sixtys ice storm and cold starting tomarrow

After you change the fuel filters and feel the need to try a shot of ether again, have someone squirt a shot while you are cranking it over.

Why no spend a whole massive $12.00 on a destroker and completely remove the hydraulic load? Instead of just reducing it? Plus the operator looks like a goof wailing on the wheel while cranking.

Something is airlocked,blocked with freshly disturbed dirt/crud or there is wax/gell blocking a line.
If somebody suggests using ether, don't listen.
Drag the tractor indoors and prove unrestricted fuel flow from fuel tank to injector pump bleed hole.

take that dam fine screen out of the fuel bowl on the primer pump put new filters on bleed filters and start it up

After you change filters you have to bleed the filter bodies, this is done by loosening the top plugs on the filter body itself this is very important as all the changes you have done so far have introduced air in the system. You could pump that primer pump till the cows come home, if you don't do this procedure . Pump till only fuel comes out ,no more bubbles and tighten the plug with one hand while pumping with the other. The later 4430's as ours ser# 054966r had the better pump it doesn't have the latch mentioned, they are easier starting but should be plugged if possible at35 degrees or less.
