What is the max bore i can put in a 466 on gasoline. I know I will have to bore the block. Is 5 inch possible?reliable or stay with 4.875?

all I've ever heard of is 4 7/8". Then stroke it to get more cubic inch. Are you using a 55 series natural gas engine?

Al,

I see you are looking to go big. There is a guy named Fritz from Illinois or surrounding area. He has made 800 in3 4010 gas (or propane). Maybe someone on here knows how to get a hold of him.

I know of 2 tractors that run/ran a 5" bore one on deisel and one on LP and gas( the one Fritz has) and the problem is that the liners are to thin and crack letting water and antifreeze in the oil. Fritz then dropped to a 4 7/8 and still had the same problem.
You might be able to do this if you hard block the engine??? I don't know for sure if this will work but it couldn't hurt. I also should state that I don't know what brand liners either engine was running, they could have been cheap-os.
The best bet I could say is call a repitable manufacture and talk to them.
Good luck Chucky

Mother Deere builds an emissions rated 375HP 4.66"X5.35"=549cu" based on that same old 380cu" dimension block dating from 1960.
