We have a '79 or '80 484 with a cab and are having trouble knowing where to connect the heater hoses. Different manuals show arrangements different from our unit. The cab manual doesn't show the connections to the engine. There seem to be three possible locations for two hoses. A) top right of water pump carrier* near the thermostat, B ) middle left of water pump carrier, C) lower left rear of the engine block. Where do we connect the hot hose to the cab, and the cool return hose from the cab?

The heater wasn't hooked up when we got it, plus there were collapsed and kinked hoses which we have now replaced.

* the water pump carrier is the casting between the block and the actual pump

Hello Sarah welcome to YT! Not certain but my guess would be hot water supply out of the engine at plug 3 or 4 shown in the link.
CNHI IH 484 parts diagram In tractors like this the pump always pumps against the thermostat. Those plugs appear to be behind or on the pressure side of the thermostat. Then return to the plug shown on the right, which I assume has coolant behind it. If need be you could connect the return to the drain plug on the lower left of the block.
