All summer it has been starting on 2 turns, little choke, no problem. Now that I have chains on and ready for snow it wont start, seems flooded. so I put in new plugs and it started in 2 turns. plugs were usualy brown, now black. I did leave the gas on for a few days, checked the oil and it was about an 1/8" over but did not smell gas. I have a GB carb and has been running perfect. I opened the plug on the carb and it runs out fairly strong and steady, seems like a lot. I checked spark and nice blue snot spark now it just wont start or even hit????
Any advice would be appreciated.

morum.........ennytime you have "starting issues"......CHANGE yer SPARKIES!!!.......NO ARGUE!!!

What do BLACK plugs indicate??? OVER-RICH, eh? While I have great respect for GB's carb rebuilds, itchy-twitch fingers have been known to diddle them handy-dandy carb tweek'ums. (naughty-naughty)

This modern "no-lead" ethanol gasoline seems to attract "water". You do know water doesn't combust, don't you??? ALWAYS keep yer gastank FULL so water is not attracted. .......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Dick;
Just tried to call ya, but yer shop must be closed for T-day holiday, so give me a jangle, as soon as ya get this.
Leaving the gas turned on is NOT a good Idea....stuck open float needle???
As Dell says...ya probly have sooted up sparkies, BUT iI see ya changed to new ones, and the tractor starts right up.....that's a good thing.
When ya pull the drain plug on the bottom of the carb bowl, and have dang good flow out......that is also a good thing.

Think yer problem is sparkies sooting up due to main fuel adj. needle and cold/damp air.........call me and I will talk ya through it.
Air to fuel mix may be off for winter type weather!!!!!!

That's why ya got my Pho. #....just call me and we can Cipher it out!!!

I put in new plugs yesterday and it started right up and run fine.
today it wont start so I pulled out the new plugs and dried them out and they were not wet. Checked the spark again with my 3/16 gap plug and a bright blue spark.
I wonder if I am getting gas? I took the plug out of carb and it run out heavy (maybe too much) if the float sticks open or closed would that effect starting?

Try tapping on the carb side to knock the float loose.Check the filter on the inlet to the carb,and if that doesn't help,pull the carb and check the float needle for some type of trash on it.I know that some would say not to use an inline filter,but I've used one for years without problems.I use the type that has a clear glass tube and screw together ends with a plastic element.Good luck. lha
