49 A head

I have a 49A that is 5.75x9in. with a stock head, is there any improvements in porting or bowl work that will help me out?

grind the brows out..clean up casting behind valves..get a murphys manifold and port match it to head

i have the same set up in my tractor but i am a 9.25 stroke and i am running a unstyled head and block the seem to feed the engine fine. i had the same set up with a styled head and block. also grind out the brows and clean up the intake and exhaust ports to match the manifolds. also i put in bigger intake valves out of a 800 minny mo this helped a lot to get as much air in as you can. also a opened up carb and cam grind will all be to the plus for ya.
