I recently purchased a 49 A with rollamatic, will a wide front end bolt up? Does anyone know if the 49's came with split pedistols? I won't get the tractor home till next spring and I forgot to look. Thanks.

I think it will. I have a 49 A with a wide front end. Looking at the parts manual, The pedestal (part#AA3920R) and steering spindle (#AA3922R) are the same for a rollomatic and a wide front end.

Split pedestals became optional equipment on Model "A" Tractors beginning with serial number 648330. Prior to that serial number the only "A" series tractors with the split pedestal were the "AN" and "AW" Tractors. However, a kit was made available to convert the earlier tractors with the two-piece "split" pedestal.

The split pedistal was used on the John Deere AW and the AN. They are the "high clearance" versions of the "A". AW means "A Wide Front" and AN means "A Narrow". The AN uses a single 1 wheel front end. A two wheel front end was a option for the AW and AN.
