4x4 50 series

Just a quick question- does anybody know the number of 50 series 4x4's made? By model number and maybe by fuel type per model? Looking at expanding my collection a little- wondered what was most rare. I realize that if it says oliver on the side and is 4x4 probably 6-10k, which makes me think I may be only able to afford one. pretty sure I cant afford any with hydraulic front assist

There's no production numbers on specific fuel types, there are some by model number if get the HPOCA magazine. In my opinion the 1850 is by far the most common followed by 1950,2150,1750,1650,2050, just my opinion

I'd guess somebody would have to decipher all of the build cards to know. If I had to guess,I'd think the 1600 would be one of the more rare ones. Although,I assume it was available on a 1550,and that's one that I've never seen with 4 wheel drive. Or maybe it wasn't? Was that one of the things they had to change when they used that rearend and transmission in the White American 60?

1550 (and 1555) used the spur gear transmission, and was never set up to incorporate the drop box used on MFWD.

It would be possible to put on the Hyraulic Power front wheel drive, but why put such an expensive option on a relatively inexpensive tractor?

Ya,I was thinking there was something they had to change on that unit when they used it for the American 60 other than just adding the diff lock.

I started collecting a few White and Oliver 4wd
tractors a few years ago. Now, they are getting
out of my price range. Worked on a few and
bought an 1850 2wd with the idea of putting a
4wd on it. If anybody is considering this, make
sure the bottom shaft has the splined end on the
the front of it. Most have smaller tach drive end
on them

Does your 1850 have that shaft? From what I"ve been able to find out the 2wd's with 4wd pinions never had a spedometer. Instead they were shiped with speed o tack from the factory. I plan to add 4wd to my 1750. I have all the parts to make it happen. It's just waiting it's turn in the shop.

The production numbers with the most fist is 1850, 1650, 1750,1950, 1550, 1950T, 2150, 2050. The 1850 & 1650 easily out distance the rest of the tractors in total production numbers. This ranking is according to my WFE tractor producton report.

Interesting that you say that the 1650 FWA was the second most produced. I think I have seen one pic of one, yet I have seen a gazillion pics of 1950 FWAs. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but the discrepancy seems a little strange.

I guess the list of tractors from highest to lowest puts a damper on the fun of the 2050 FWA that I found the other day. I am still looking for the right tractor to put a cummins in and found a straight 2050 FWA with a thrown rod. I would imagine it will be too much for my pocketbook. What would something like it bring with a bad engine? I thought there were more 2150-2050's built, guess I was wrong.

Side question, you guys seen a lot of 1900 FWA"s? I think that"s my next project. Thought it was a little rare.

2150's are common for an Oliver. the 2050 is rare I don't think they fetch to high of a price compared to the others

collect???? If I had a 4x4 id restore it to farm with. parts are still available and computerized tractors suck. you collectors are ruining it for us guys that have a like, use and take care of the Olivers. God bless all of you that still make use of good machinery

haha take it easy, just becasue I want to collect some doesnt mean i dont use them- i use my 1650 more than any other tractor aside from my bucket tractor- and i would use the 4x4 as well. they are not going to set idle.

As stated elsewhere, the 1550 and 1555 were not available with MFWA. Here's something one of you guys might want to look into: I designed the long pinion shaft for the American 60 for the MFWA. I designed the American transfer case to fit the 1655 pinion and rear case and the 60 long pinion was designed to fit the new transfer case. It would be interesting to install an American 60 long pinion shaft into say a 1555 and make a 1555 MFWA. I'm not 100% sure it would work, but I think it would. The 1555 and 1655 rear case are the same part number. Post pictures!!!
