I am working on a 1942 JD-A. The pistons have 5 1/4-inch ring grooves. There are 4 compression rings and a bottom oil ring.
The ring sets I find are 3 compression rings and 2 oil rings. The piston only has oil drain holes in the bottom ring groove. Will it hurt to install the 3 compression and 2 oil rings like the sets? I am told that this is what is listed. How will the 2nd oil ring work without drain holes in the piston?
