5-Ring JD-A Piston Question

I am working on a 1942 JD-A. The pistons have 5 1/4-inch ring grooves. There are 4 compression rings and a bottom oil ring.

The ring sets I find are 3 compression rings and 2 oil rings. The piston only has oil drain holes in the bottom ring groove. Will it hurt to install the 3 compression and 2 oil rings like the sets? I am told that this is what is listed. How will the 2nd oil ring work without drain holes in the piston?

Just don't put the multi-piece ring in the bottom groove. That ring comes partly out of the end of the bore at bottom dead center.

That raises another question. The block was sleeved. If that ring comes completely out of the block, how will it go back in the bore? I know the original blocks have a slight taper around the cylinder bottom. Does the taper have to be put back on the sleeve?

The ring only comes partly out of the block. You can at least take off the sharp edge at the top and bottom. Is the sleeve even at the bottom or longer? I hope it is not shorter!

Sometimes they are put back together without the oil ring when using a stroker crank will stock rods and pistons. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

If the block is right, the oil control ring should not exit the bore at the bottom of the stroke. If it does, it's probably another in the dowzens of botched sleeve jobs that amateur machine shops foist upon the unsuspecting. "Sleeve a two cylinder block, a style that we never have done before, one our boring mill that won't reach the entire length, so we have to spin it around on the table mid-way through? Sure we can do that....."
