New User
just pulled the headsoff of my 504 engine in my puller.notuced that all heads were cracked between valves and injector hole.is this common?is this going to be a problem?was going to have heads ported dont know if i should use these or get different heads.thanks for any help.
ps heads are from 2670 engine.

Cracks are very common, my 1370 has ran for several years since having the heads to a machine shop, they called the Case dealer and the mechanic said to run it, and I have !!

Dont know what porting will do though

Depending on what you are doing there are heads being made that flow much better than the stock Case heads. They are being cast and are higher with way better intake ports. They may be solid as the hottest are running no cooling system at all, or maybe there are some with cooling passages. The best runners around here are dry, they don't even install freeze plugs. Find out who the best running SS or PRO stock pullers are and get to know them, they'll hook you up with the right sources if you want to get that deep into it. Chris Hoyt from here in Penna. is a friend of mine and he has one of the most powerful Cases in the nation so I keep up on what he is doing. mEl

mel where are you from.im an western ny about 20 miles from erie pa.will be looking to jump up a class and curious as to what these heads might cost and where to find them.thanks.

No need to get excited guys had the same problem on our 1570 all three were cracked in the same place and our area shop said those heads probably cracked within the first weeks of the tractor ever running told us to pressure check them and if they dont leak run um. Still running the tractor that way in the field and it don't loose a drop of water.
