I have a late model 560 that blew a head gasket while baling. I foolishly kept going. Never got hot but white fog was shooting out the blowby tube. On the next to last bale, something popped in the engine area, lost #5 cylinder and it started smoking. It still runs on 5 cylinders with a slight knock and pumps coolant out till you rev it up. The tires are like new, the PTO and TA have been rebuilt in the last 3 years, good brakes, strong clutch, 3 dual remotes and good sheetmetal. Can anyone give me an idea on what it is worth as is? thanks.

Sounds like to me the tractor is worth fixing up, but not much hope for the operator. If I had a 560 like that, I'd darn sure take care of it. LE

That is a tough one. I would say that somewhere around $1000 to $1500 would be fair.
That is if you find someone who wants a 560.

Well, you might as well look at a full on rebuild. If you ran it for a considerable time with a blown gasket, you may have done alot more damage than you think. If you pumped coolant through the motor, you probiably tore up every bearing in the bottom end, possibly the crank and cam too. Possibly bent a rod on the #5 if you were indeed consuming coolant. A gas will compress, a liquid will not. Something had to give, hopefully it isn't a rod. Timing set might be salvageable. Oil pump probiably needs rebuilt with all the trash that likely ran though it. If the number 5 piston broke, you'll need a sleeve there too. Might as well do all of them while you are at it. I'm trying not to be critical of you here, but to run a machine that has a known problem like this is just plain dumb. You might have had rain on the way with hay on the ground that you had to get up. We know we have all been there, but you see that taking that chance has likely cost you alot. You might be just as far ahead to find a running motor in a salvage yard and go from there if you need this tractor tomorrow. The rest of the machine sounds like it's in good shape, so it would be a shame to junk it. But at this point without tearing it down it's hard to tell exactly how big of a hit your pocket book needlessly took.

It's pretty much worthless with a bad engine in it. A professional rebuild is going to set the next owner back upwards of $4000, assuming all the major parts are reusable, so they're not going to want to pay much for the rest of the tractor. No 560 is worth $4000, no matter how nice it is or how many new parts went into it, unfortunately.

Where are you located. I have a 424 and would like a larger tractor. Am retired and could afford the time to rebuild. If you are interested in selling let me know where you are (I'm in central OK), and a price. I have a trailer I think would haul it. My e-mail is open or you can reply thru the forum. Thanks. Bob

Well i just sold 2 of my 560D's one for 5500 and the other for 5000 with wide front fast hitch, new paint good tin. There was a gas jobber in MN that brought 5400 with wide front, good paint, straight hitch. They have really jumped in value though out the past 5 years.

Thanks for the information, didn't really need the lecture, but you have to take the crap to get the good. The tractor is located 3 miles east of st joseph mo. runable to load. Looking for $1500 but will consider best offer. Pistons, sleeves gaskets, wrist pins kit is $600.00 not including head rebuild and labor. thanks again. phone number 816-294-0447
