560 Turbo

I recently bought a 560 with a turbo. The serial number is 60180 which would put the tractor at a very late 1962 model. How many 560's did they put a turbo on. Was it a factory option?

Not a factory option. M&W made aftermarket kits you could put on.

A 560 was never offered with a turbo.But LOTS of them had turbos added later on...Had a neighbor once,He had the dealer install a turbo on his 'Brand New' tractor before it was delivered!... warranty voided.Neighbor got 'lucky',never had any trouble with it.

M&W turbo can use exhaust hole in hood. IH turbo you had to cut a new hole further forward.

I have two 560s with turbo one with M&W and the other with the TD-9-92 series cat turbo-the one that had the big curved pipe towards the front.

I still have a 560 with a turbo it was installed by my IH dealer years ago. It came in a turbo kit which included a turbo, manifold, dry air cleaner and exhaust pipe. I think it was on a small IH Bulldozer. The turbo is an air research. In her day we worked the tractor at 80 hp. and it performed well.
