570 first gear

A friend of mine just bought a 570. He tells me that some 570s never had a first gear. Is this so? Just curious!

No first??? Never herd that before. Mine has first. Aren't first and third the same gear just a high/low? So then there would b no 3rd to? I doubt it. But Ive been wrong more often than I can remember.

I belive during the first year of production of the 570 Duper, first gear, low reverse and third were all slowed down a small amount. I would have to dig a little further when I get out of this hospital. There always was a first gear. A lot of the transmission parts were common across the 500 series. All and all and excellent easy shifting tranny that could stand decent power.
