Got another two fields done today and looks like the heat gauge is done also.

IH built one heck of a tractor but just couldn't build a heat gauge.

I've had 5 bad ones over the years; one of 'em on a brand spankin' new tractor with only 20 hours on the thing. First time I put it to work, right over to the hot mark.

Geeeze! And, here we go again. :>(

allan, how many speeds does that rig have? i see the shifters, is there a high and low or just the ta? and is it hard to shift? my 1086 shifts kinda hard if your not used to it but isn't that just an ih thing?

Let's see.

8 forward speeds and 4 reverse plus the T/A Hi-Lo operation in each speed. Should be the same as your tractor.

They should shift with two fingers.

The 86 series are a bit touchy. You've really got to keep all that cab shift linkage in order to make 'em feel right.

Lo and Hi plus 4= 8 speeds add in TA makes for 16 speeds

I've always thought that fuel guages were the weak point in any tractor. We've got an AGCO Allis, 2 A-C's, 1 MF, and 1 JD. The fuel guage dosen't work on any of them. Have to use the stick method like it's 1940.

Allan the temp. gauge problem is probably linked to the fuel adjustment on inj pump you altered the other day. Must've got 40 ponies instead of 20!! Tx Jim
