Brand new battery, it's not over full.... fluid is 3/4 inch down. Over night it leaks out around one cap??? Why?

If the electrolyte in one cell looks different than others, maybe has a gray cloudy milky look, it could be a bad cell causing the levels to rise ?? A hydrometer could be used to test the SP in each cell and that one may be different ??? I think Id take that one back ...

If they give you any sheet, never buy another battery from them.

Was it on a charger? Fast charging can cause gassing, and it will look like that.

Is full in the evening before? Or was it filled and full the morning before and then it was used? The tractor could be overcharging and boiling the electrolyte out. Mark.

you need to check the voltage when the unit is running. charging volts too high and thats what will happen. bad regulator, it will not over flow just sitting on a shelf.

so the unit this battery is in dont have a charging system? as that is the battery charger.

Let me explain more ...... brand new battery. Dropped it in a 2n Ford. Ran the tractor for 15 minutes. Tested battery 6.6 not running, drops to 5.4 while cranking, shows 7.5-7.9 while running at fairly high rpm. The fluid leaked out that night.

Thanks for the update, again sounds like a good candidate for a return as it might possibly have a bad cell but no way of telling more from here. I'm sure you will do what's best so good luck
