Maybe I should just say, water doesn't run up hill.

12volt battery with a 6 volt genny will not hurt any thing other then the battery not getting charged up. The V.R. will see a over charged battery and kick out so you have no problem there

It's always helpful if we knew what model tractor you're talking about.

Next, if you have a 12 volt battery and a 6 volt generator, it will not keep the battery charged. And, the lights will be very bright....for about 30 seconds.

No, you can't run the 6v generator twice as fast to charge the 12v battery.

Maybee he meant step-up.. IE. a solid state 'charge pump' ( inverter, step up circuit ).. which would be possible.. but ridiculess.. ;)

A 6 volt generator will run away and explode the 12 volt battery.I seen it happen years ago. A 60 amp meter was pinned.

Charge rate was normal after the 12v generator was in place. No regulator problems,The higher field voltage on the 6v generator did the trick.55 chevy with idiot light.2 batteries exploded.First 12v generators were marked 12V on the id tag.I checked the generator number it came up as 6 volt.
