as i run my 6000 diesel with an s.o.s. the light on the dash for the trans keeps coming on. dont do it w hen i first start using the tractor but as it warms up it comes on at lower rpm. is there a way to adjust the pressure up or down on this? i need to check the pressure when it's warm, seems like must be 180 lbs or so.
thanks
Cody

so does that mean i have an issue in the lube pressure side of things? is this "normal" or is there a way to adjust this.

Cody,

The pressure is measured at the very end of the circuit and ideally would not drop below 2 psi. My 971 is similar to your tractor in that it will do fine for a few hours, but then start showing low pressure in certain gears or at low RPM. If you have fresh oil, I wouldn't worry too much. Most of these old Select-o-Speed tractors don't even have a functioning warning lamp on this circuit. I believe Ford even discontinued this warning lamp on later 901 and 4000 series Select-o-speed tractors.

Proper oil and keep it serviced should serve you well. If the light continues to stay on, I would assume it is time for a pump rebuild or ??. No pressure adjustment that I know of.

Likely not a real issue. There is a lubrication pressure regulator valve in the control valve body. It is adjustable. There is also a transmission pressure regulator that is adjustable.

i suppose the trans press reg. is in the valve body also? so should i just do the normal pressure test when it's hot and see what i've got and go from there? i know cold it's within 5 lbs of the the pressure but never checked it hot.

That's where it is.

Yes the transmission does need to be at normal operating temps and engine at 800 RPM for the test to be accurate.
