600lp is alive again!

I bought this about 3 years ago if memory serves. It was my great uncles tractor, and was always hard to get started. Last weekend my brother and I took the old Ensign regulator off, completely apart, and replaced what we could. 1. The middle was caked full of crud. 2. The tiny round rubber seal on the back side was real soft - so we made a replacement. 3. The outside leaked everywhere as it was warped from over-tight screws - so I used some valve grinding compound on a piece of glass and smoothed it out, and sealed it with Ultra Blue.

And...the old beast fired right up, so this weekend I put a new emblem on it from John S., and a seat cushion from Don L. I bought a new rubber piece for the torsion seat a few years ago, but it has never held up the way I expected. I'm thinking I need to add a shock absorber similar to what is used on a Farmall. I'm a big guy, but that darn thing was expensive and hasn't been strong enough since I put it on shortly after I bought it.

If anyone has put on shock absorber on one of these I'd love to see pics - I don't want to shell out another $100+ for the other part.I have to figure out how to post some pics. It needs a repaint, but otherwise looks pretty good.

Nice Tractor !!!!!
I have painted those canvas tops before with regular implement paint and they looked and held up good.
Thanks for posting.

I entered the LP world this spring with an 800. Everhart LPG in Lone Wolf, OK is the only outfit in the country that cuts new diaphragms and gaskets for Ensign regs.

My 800 has a model W and the high pressure cover was warped like yours. Mine was bad enough that I made a jig for a press and went all the way around. I still don't know why it didn't break...

Trial and error was how I figured the system out. I think I had the reg/carb off 3 times before I finally got it right. Don't let someone talk you into replacing the Ensign parts with some aftermarket crap.

Great Looking 600. I just got one too, I am missing the small tin pieces behind the hood and under the LP tank. I think they would be easy to fabricate if I had a pattern. Is it possible to have you trace one of them on some cardboard? Send me an email if you would, Thanks
