65 hard broke

Please give me some suggestions. Was riding around on my MF65 Sunday. I felt a vibration & heard a grinding noise coming from the left rear of the tractor & before I could stop the left rear wheel locked up. It'll turn about 1/4 turn in either direction then locks up. Let me know of any like problems or give me some idea of what could be the cause. Thanks, Norm.

Hi Norm,
If you have movement albeit a 1/4 turn or so it would suggest that the epicyclic reduction unit at the outside of the axle is OK. If you unlatch the brake pedals try pressing the pedal for the side that is affected. If there is no movement on the brake arm at the axle slacken the adjuster and check if the wheel becomes free. A possibility could be that one of the brake disc linings has broken free and become jammed between the disc, actuator and axle housing.

Had a similar problem with a grinding and grabbing.The planetary froze up from no lube.The manual I had did not show a gear lube needed for the outboard axles.needed to replace it with a used unit.
