There is a long explanation along with my question, but I"ll try to keep it short. I overhauled the engine 3 years ago. When I first change the oil it stays on the full mark for a few hours, maybe 20 (hour meter does not work). After running it for a period of time the oil begins to drop on the stick and continues to do so until I change it again. When the tractor is running in the shop the fumes are terrible, making it hard to breathe and burning the eyes. Would this be oil or fuel? My question - could fuel be getting into the oil after a period of time diluting it and causing oil consumption. I can"t figure why it takes a period of time before it starts to burn oil. I was about to take it apart again thinking the rings did not seat, but I first wanted to check into the possibility of fuel causing the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
