6610 battery tray sensor?

I just replaced the battery in a 6610 and saw an electrical sensor? switch? on the rear of the tray side. There are two wires going from it into a wiring harness, so don't know where the wires go or the purpose of the device. Anyone know what this device is? thanks

I think it stops the alternator charging if the battery get too warm. If you disconnect those wires , the alternator wont charge .

temp sensor.. most were bypassed.
