674 tune up questions?

I usually hang around the Ford sites, but my son recently purchased a 674 gasser on an auction. We want to give it a much needed tune up, but are having trouble finding the correct numbers. The local parts store sold us the wrong plugs & rotor & I'm not real sure about the points. I looked at the tune up kit on this site & it lists spark plugs the same size as are in the tractor now (D18Y Champs), but then says the kit is for tractors w/screw-held distributor caps. His dist cap has the spring clips, & the cap does not seem to fit correctly. It also shows a dust cover that looks like an upside-down bowl & his is flat. Does it have the wrong dist? Or are the parts some previous owner put on the wrong ones?
Also, is the firing order 1234?
Thanks in advance!

The firing order of most IH 4 cylinder engine is 1342. I
am going to email you some info which should be help
when working on this fine machine. Hopefully others
will chime in on your ignition parts problem. I will say it
is likely YT does not have the parts for your distributor.
Hope you do not have access to any rocky areas,
because those Fords are going to have some dents
soon. Ha ha! If

The trick with some IH machines is that the engine
parts diagrams were a separate book and now a
separate online section. If you put 674 in the search
bar at the top of the link wore out posted it will show
only diesel models. But when you enter the North
American online ..parts book.. you will see it has some
info for the gas models naming them as ..carbureted
engine.. But as I stated above the engine is in a
separate section, so in that same linked page, type in
C-200 with the hyphen. That will take you into the
engine diagrams where it will show the Lucas
distributor option as he has posted as well as all the
gas engine parts diagrams.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to more info!
I was raised w/Ford & Farmall, later farmed w/all IH, but in retirement I have 7 Fords & 1 AC.
Two of my Fords better not get too close to rocks, but the rest already have had many close encounters!
Thanks again!

red, I'm confused, the link I posted was a direct link to the C-200 parts catalog???

Ya, I suppose this comes from posting on a phone. On
the phone version you cannot get back to the other
main sections from a subsection as readily as on a PC.
I also use an iPhone and I believe that it is a little more
difficult to align their web pages with the Safari
browser. I was actually on my PC for a time this
morning, first time in quite a while. The CNHI site
works a lot better on there. However, I do not spend
much time at all on a PC at home, have plenty of that
at work. If I did need one at home more I would need to
get a new one. The one I use is the one my kid used in
college and he is 33 now. He put some kind of a solid
state drive in it. It really heats up. Sorry for the
confusion.

Sorry, but now I'm even more confused. I haven't yet found any info on the gassers, but I'm better w/wrenches than this computer! Could I ask simply for the part numbers for the cap, rotor, points, & condenser? Thanks!

Sorry if I confused you, posting it as a Lucas brand
that was from a distributor cap in the YT parts page
down lower in the list not sure if that is an option for
your tractor. The link wore out gave you should be for
the distributor you have. The other distributor was a
Delco and it has a screw down cap. The cap is A44429
and is A44530 those are substituted part numbers
shown when you click the cap and rotor number
70925C1 in the diagram to see the details and price.
Points are 531456R1 and condenser is 531455R1.
These are spendy from IH. Your parts store should be
able to verify these numbers cross to the ones they
show in their application books.

Turns out the OEM parts are TERRIBLY high-priced. Check with a local auto parts store, many sell ''Standard Ignition'' parts, if they don't they should be able to cross the numbers below to the brand they sell.

Points... AL-5486XP

Condenser... AL-118X

Cap... AL-149

Rotor... AL-99

There's two more options for the cap and rotor, but these seem the most likely. Could you post a photo of your cap and rotor?

If you GOOGLE ''Standard AL-99'' and ''Standard AL-149'' you will find photos of the parts, look closely, as there can be small differences in the details.
