my 7000 does not hold rpm range like its supposed to. manual is not much help on this problem, thanks for any help. allways adjesting throttle

It sounds as if you have overlooked maintaining the oil level in your Simms injector pump. On the top of the injector pump,you'll find the filler plug(15/16"wrench)while the level plug (on side of pump) and drain plug(under pump),both 1/2"wrench. This pump uses the same oil as you use in your engine and should be changed when the engine oil is changed with the level checked between changes.
This area is quite often overlooked,particularly by new owners of 5 and 7000 series Fords.
 
i have not had the tractor that long. i changed the pump oill first thing looked bad when i severest it. looking for a fix, without replaceing the pump.
 
There is cover on the side of the pump held on with two bolts. Take it off. You will see a rail that is most likely very rusty. Take a can of WD40 and start washing it out and freeing it up. Once this moves freely the tractor will run smoooother.
