720 Diesel Missing

I've got a 720 Diesel, factory electric start, that misses when cold. I started it today (about 35 degrees), and it fired right off, and idled just fine, but when I advanced the throttle, it sounded like it was only hitting on one. Pull it back to idle, and just fine. I put it in gear, advanced the throttle, and started moving, same thing, missing on one. Apply some brake pressure to load it up a little, and it would clear up and run normal. Let it idle for about 5 minutes to warm up, and then it was just like normal. I've got it in the shop for a PTO clutch, and would like to address this problem too. Any ideas?

You may want to have those injectors checked for crack pressure. It could be that the injector requires more fuel volume to get it to crack open or perhaps it is staying open and is only misting when more fuel is applied.

If this turns up nothing check your fuel supply pump for pressure should be between 50 and 60 PSI at wide open throttle.

Your last ditch effort is to pull the main pumps and send them to a repuitable rebuilder.

My 730D did that sort of when started it missed on one then ran on two when it warmed up a bit and it was a leaking head gasket on the left cylinder.

I have to open that last fuel bleeder that is next to the governor and bleed air out of the fuel system or mine acts like that.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll start with the easy ones, and keep going deeper. I guess I could live with it, because it seems to run just fine after it gets past it's sputtering, but I sure think it should be better.
