# 723 backhoe hydraulics

Just purchased a 1968 Ford 3000 with a Ford # 723 backhoe attachment and unable to find replacement metal hydraulic lines because the male and female fittings are different from what is used today? Any suggestions HELP!

One thing that may help is an adapter that Tisco makes, part CU978FO. This adapts the oddball 713/723 fittings to standard 1/2" NPT. If you want to take a look go to http://www.external_link/ and look up that number in their catalog (last digit is the letter O, not zero). Fixing up a 713 or 723 backhoe is pretty much an exercise in improvisation.

You can use a JIC 37 degree to SAE O-ring adaptor. The SAE o-ring has the same straight threads and an o-ring at the top. Mine is mostly those adaptors right now! 2 hoes both 723's. Seals tight.

I really don't like the Ford to MPT adaptors Andy talked about. First they make the total fitting lenght too long in most areas. The 4 boom ones will force the hose to bend too sharp and fail. They move the hoses way out on the control valve. And they are hard to seal tight where JIC is easy to seal tight.

Just a different direction.
